I have just added more functionality to the user control panel for reguistered users!

Now you can edit your ad’s text, web address, email and phone contact. You can also take advantage of the National Visibility option at any time instead of just being presented with the option at sign up.

    Hope this helps!

Unfortunately the edit feature is not letting me add pictures or take my phone number off one of the ads. It says there is an SQL error.

        Kristine,

We were just working on our database and server… perhaps thats why you experienced the error. Please try again and let me know if the issue persists…

Hello, I am new here and posted my ad for Fundraising Bookmarks today. I don’t want to break the rules, can I post to different areas of the country? Thanks for your reply. Thanks for the site too.

      • admin 10:59 am on December 22, 2009 Permalink | Reply

Kendall, Thanks for participating! Ads are local. You can have up to three ads active at the same time so you could post other ads in other areas. There is an option to have your ad appear nationally, we charge $10 per ad for the life of the ad for that. You can activate this option from the control panel when you log in.

        Blessings!

    Email Verification Errors Fixed

Since revamping the way Christ’s List verifies new accounts, we have received no new incidents of people not being able to log in after clicking the authentication link in the verification email. We are now confident that this bug is fixed.

I would like to encourage anyone who has had difficulties to try again.

    Christ’s List Categories

…I’m looking for a little feedback concerning Christ’s List’s categories. What’s not important? What’s missing? What should be renamed or redefined?

New (better?) Strategy for Paid Posts

After considering a few different ways to support the site we have abandoned the original strategy of charging for certain categories. We’ve decided to keep ALL local posts free, but create an option that gives a post “National” visibility for $10. The cost is for the life of the post - which can be up to a maximum of 60 days.

Whatever category you assign your post to will remain the same, but it will be seen in that category for ALL states, not just your local area. Our hope and prayer is that businesses and ministries with a national reach will find this beneficial - especially as visits to the site continue to increase.

The national post option can be selected after you create your post, and can be payed for through PayPal using your account or credit/debit card.

    Blessings!

      Hello,
After resetting my password, I’m still not able to log in to the site. The only thing I can think is that it doesn’t like my login name, wrxy-tv, with the hyphen. Could this be the problem?

      • admin 1:36 pm on July 20, 2009 Permalink | Reply

        Steven,

When I get time I’ll review the filters for the web forms - its possible that you are right regarding the username… meanwhile to test the theory I’ve renamed your username to “wrxytv”… try to log in…

Locale - Help Us Define Your Local Area

You live in your state, we don’t. What we need is a little help understanding how you local folks refer to your area.

For example, here in New Jersey we typically divide our state into 3 parts: “North”, “Central” and “South Jersey”. New York City is divided by “boroughs”, other places are divided by counties, major cities or direction - like northeast or south side.

Help us to serve you better by telling us how your area is divided, and what the proper names of these regions are. Also bear in mind that we are interested in broad divisions, not neccesarily every single city or county within a state.

When browsing the posts on Christ’s List you may already see regions listed for your state, if thats the case let us know if any are missing, incorrect or redundant. Thanks in advance!

Lyncburg is located in Central Va. but has 68,000 in the city alone. The metropolitan area includes 203,000 people. I think Lynchburg should be used as a major city for locale purposes.

I was talking with my small group about doing a website like this. Are you all interested in partnering this website? I believe I can connect my resources with yours and make this a big deal in and through the Church

      • admin 11:33 am on August 31, 2009 Permalink | Reply

        Pete,

The first question would be “What exactly are your resources?”… Christ’s List is currently a one man operation - and that man is also a full time pastor! The lacking resources really are just programming talent and $$.

I still keep the site in “beta” because there are still many features to be implemented and of course a few bugs being chased down. If others were programming in addition to - or once in a while instead of me these tasks would be done and the site would sooner be ready for the masses.

There is no advertising budget (thank God for Twitter, faceBook and a few other social nets) which is why it has been a slow build as far as popularity.

Are either of these things something you could provide?

        Thanks for reaching out! Blessings!

        Gisela,

Thanks for giving it a try - and for your support! The second ad is missing a title, the title is what gets clicked on. If there is no title then there’s nothing to click. I will take steps to prevent this from happening in the future.

The ads seem basically the same and seem to be posted to the same category, maybe consider adding the additional info to the active ad (you should be able to log in and do this). If this doesnt work for you let me know what you have in mind.

        Blessings!

I would like to be able to post housing to the site. We have a Seminary in my town and I know that many students would use the site if they knew of it. (Fuller Theological Seminary-Pasadena CA)

I am so glad you are doing this I was thinking of this site name for a long time- 3 years and wondered when someone would do it. I would help if I knew how. I am just a graphic designer and teacher who knows little about the back-end side. If you ever want some free simple Google-ish designs let me know.
